What we publish.
The Lens publishes thoughtful opinions from Hunt County residents on local issues. We are deliberately the opposite of social media: a place for careful thinking, not hot takes.
We welcome opinions we disagree with. Especially those.
Some of our favorite pieces have come from readers who saw things differently than we do. Grown-ups can disagree about politics, policy, schools or taxes and still be neighbors, friends and fellow citizens. Disagreement is the point of an opinion section, not a problem.
Thoughtful, not reactive.
This is the antithesis of social-media slop. We are looking for pieces where you have actually thought through what you want to say, with facts, with reasoning, with care for how you say it. If your words are carefully chosen, we are likely to publish them. If they are not, we will probably ask you to revise.
Real names. No anonymous opinions.
Please include your real name, address and contact information with your submission. We verify, then publish under your name. Pseudonyms and burner addresses are an immediate no.
Hunt County focus.
The Lens is a local-news site. Submissions about Hunt County come first: local government, schools, business, history, life here. Broader takes are welcome when there is a clear local angle.
