The director of Greenville's W. Walworth Harrison Public Library has been named a 2026 Texas Municipal League Leadership Fellow. John D. Hayden was honored May 15 during an awards ceremony at the Austin Marriott Hotel in Round Rock, according to a city announcement.

Texas Municipal League Executive Director Monty Wynn recognized Hayden alongside municipal leaders from across the state. The TML Leadership Fellows program strengthens leadership skills among elected officials, appointed leaders, first responders and other municipal professionals throughout Texas.

Participants complete more than 25 hours of leadership training over two months, focusing on ethical leadership, trust-building, team development and strategic negotiation. Fellows examine local government challenges within a broader leadership framework and develop strategies to better serve their communities and residents.

The Texas Municipal League, founded in 1913, is a nonprofit organization that provides legal guidance, legislative advocacy, educational resources, training and networking opportunities to officials representing more than 1,171 cities across Texas.
